Stereo Mixing for Real People
The John Geils Band / Centerfold / 1981
This is Stereo mixed from (4) Stereo tracks. Sadly, keyboard work and some overdubbed electric guitar is (pre)mixed with the vocals. It wasn't that way originally, but to make it easier to transport (file sharing) the tracks are condensed. It doesn't give me the ability to change stereo content thrills much. Some vocals are poorly mix, rendering the "multi-tracks" worthless to everyone. As we learned, since the majority of people really don't care about stereo [or sound quality], many songs were mix near monophonic (70's+), even though they had MANY tape tracks available. Some people seek Blu-Ray "Hi Fidelity" CDs, since the believe they'll gain superior sound quality. That is nonsense, people just enjoy wasting their money, while allowing someone else to control what they hear. Go with the real improvement, mix tracks yourself so you can hear things that weren't included in the original stereo mix!!... http://www.angelfire.com/empire/abps...centerfold.mp3 Thank you for your time. Hope to hear some of your mixes soon. Jack - Mixing Specialist |
