Creating my own box
I was at best buy like a week or so ago and found this 16 inch squared box
with one 12" sub that hit like a beast. It out did ever other sub and set of subs in the store...I was amazed. So after this revelation I've decided to only go with one sub because I now know its possible to get the kind of bass I want wth only one sub. The question is can I recreate a box that good. The only reason I don't want to get that box paticularly is because I am a very visual guy and that box would look like I just set it in the middle of my trunk and left it, cause tahts the only way to fit it in my trunk is to put it dead center. So with this in mind I have some questions. I think I can make a triangular prism shaped box look really nice...I guess the best way to relate that shape is to say wedge. Is it possible to make a wedge shaped box into a bandpass box without being a mathematician and professional wood worker? I know my geometry and trigonometry and have access to great wood working tools...but I'm no prefessional. Also, how would I implement the bandpass technology in the wedge shaped box? Can someone post a link to some good resources for designing a bandpass box? I'm really not all that sure on how to construct one....and then an opinionated question, should I go for the great look at risk the box or go with the pre-built trusted box and just have a trunk that looks like junk? |

The parameters of the enclosure you saw are specific to that particular
subwoofer. One of the subs that goes the deepest and plays the loudest is made by Earthquake sound of California. They own the patent on the wide surround on many subwoofers. P.
