Default new William Shatner CD

Have you heard this? It's the best and most original rock n roll album I've
heard in years. Very moving, cheeky, irreverent. It's not schtick, it's the
real deal, unlike almost everything else.

I dunno, maybe it's just me.

I recently heard the song "Common People" on the radio and I thought
it was really very cool. I've been meaning to get to a local music
store and buy the CD, "Has Been". I'd like to hear the whole thing, but
particularly the song with Henry Rollins.

I heard the review of it on NPR and was knocked out. Ben Folds and Shatner
are exceptional on the CD. And it has the one thing I find lacking in music
much of the time...A huge sense of irreverent humor!

So the answer is: It's not just you!

Count me in too with a thumbs up. Common People is just fantastic,
especially when Joe Jackson kicks in in full early '80s "angry young
man" mode and I Can't Get Behind That (the duo with Henry Rollins) is
great too.

I was skeptical at first (remembering his first foray into pop music) but it's kind of growing on me. I think Ben Folds was a perfect match for him and the resulting product has a certain swing to it.

I went out a few days ago and finally bought the "Has Been" CD by
William Shatner and Ben Folds. It really is a very good record. Sadly,
it's the sort of thing that most will dimiss as only having "kitsch" or
"schlock" value. But I agree with Krizman's assessment that it's "Very
moving, cheeky, irreverent. It's not schtick, it's the real deal,
unlike almost everything else." Some will be disappointed to know that
while it does actually have a lot of funny moments, Shatner's in on the
joke, not the butt of the joke. Overall I think it has the same sort of
fun, innocent, sincerity that can be found on the The Kids Of Whidney
High CD. Sadly, The Kids Of Whidney High is another great album that's
either totally dismissed by "serious" musicians or else it's usually
being enjoyed for sadistic reasons by people that want to laugh at
retarded kids. Personally I'd much rather listen to the aforementioned
"schlock" as opposed to the whiny, prententious, PHONEY, psuedo-angst
bull**** that's all over the radio and TV these days.

Does he say Priceline in any of the songs?
If so, we would surely know it is a marketing ploy.
