Default question about boss amp

I have the california series profile 1200. I think the PCB component
layout is very similar to the Clarus series for a little less $$$. I
like mine. Bought it used in 8.5/10 condition for $129... Cant
complain about that.

its more power than I really need but for that price I couldn't pass it
up. Heck if it fries or I dont like it I'll toss it. Never bench
tested it, but it seems to meet its rms wattage claims. As with any amp
you can throw out its max wattage rating. IMHO you should also consider
the CA series 1200. As well as the Lanzar Vibe 1200D and the JBL
1200.1 Note also that the Vibe 1200D PCB component layout is
identical to a pyramid PB2400 and the Boss 3000D. They most likely have
the same overseas PCB supplier / fab house.
Heres some pics:

lots of folks rave about the JBL, that would be my choice. note that
its a mono amp.

Default question about boss amp

the boss kinda makes me wonder though, no bridged ratings are listed.
if the amp cannot be bridged, then you are left with the 2ohm rating (if
the sqaure is d4) or the 1ohm rating (for d2).

i suggest looking at the impedance of the speakers and the possible
loads (measured in ohms) that you can get, then try to matach an amp to
that. the clarus looks like it's made to work for 2 4ohmDVC woofers,
and the boss to work with 2 1ohmDVC woofers or 2 4ohmDVC woofers (if it
can be bridged). not that other woofers won't work, but other setups
won't get as much power.

also, zedaudio used to build boss amps. the designer said that the amps
were listed at approximately 2x the actual power. now that the amps are
made outside the US, i see no reason for this practice to have changed.

Default question about boss amp

Yeah the older ZED audio BOSS amps are supposed to be pretty good.

Do you know which line of Boss amps were made by Zed?

thanks,
Garrett
