Power for Tantrum 1200.1
I have a 120 amp alternator and a 10 farad cap in a 2001 Jetta. I get alot
of clipping at higher volumes from the subs. The voltage drops to 12.5 or so but the two PG tatnrum 1200.1 amps need to see 14.4 to produce full power. They are driving two JL 13w7s sealed. Will another battery, or replacing my existing battery help with my systems clean output? And if so how? |

then what is it? it's at a high volume but no where near the drivers'
limits. "Mark Zarella" seesigfile wrote in message ... I have a 120 amp alternator and a 10 farad cap in a 2001 Jetta. I get alot of clipping at higher volumes from the subs. If you "get a lot of clipping", then the supply voltage is NOT the culprit. |

1/0 to capacitor/distribution block then 4 guage to the two amps.
check it out http://www.sounddomain.com/id/sqman1 bottom line is alternator change is not doeable in ontario with this car. i wanna know what my other options are. low level mechanical sounds at the transients sometimes sharp and louder.
the thing is i can play alot louder overall if i set the crossover to 50hz with a 12 db slop than i can at 80hz. i know its the amps. but don't know what exactly to do. i know what i'm desscribing sounds like bottoming out but i assure you its not. You could be clipping then, but fixing the supply voltage won't help you
much. The difference in power is not significant enough. -- Mark Zarella zarellam at upstate dot edu "gerren" wrote in message ble.rogers.com... low level mechanical sounds at the transients sometimes sharp and louder. the thing is i can play alot louder overall if i set the crossover to 50hz with a 12 db slop than i can at 80hz. i know its the amps. but don't know what exactly to do. i know what i'm desscribing sounds like bottoming out but i assure you its not. they need 14.4 volts to get their max 1500 watt ouput anywhere from 2-4 ohms
(according to pg support) but i also thought that a drop to 11.5 volts wouldn't be that bad so they shouldn't clip like they do. i KNOW i have the gain set correctly. so you think that only an increase in amperage will fix this problem?
