It means we can lose Pinkerton sooner rather than later. The way it
works is this: the troll Oinkerton only has existence when recognized.
If no one answers him or recognizes his existence by writing to him, or

about him, or answering his posts, or refers to him by name or
implication, or joins even indirectly in someone else's post, Pinkerton

is powerless to disrupt our newsgroup. If no one pays him any
attention, he ceases to exist.

The problem with such a prescription except if made at exactly the
right time is that RAT is full of strong personalities with a *perfect
right to say what they want to whom they want*. Patrick has exercised
this right all the way to the bitter end with Pinkerton. If Patrick is
finished with Pinkerton, then this is the perfect moment when it
becomes so much easier for the rest of us to ignore Pinkerton because
the traffic is instantly cut in half.

The sooner the rest of us climb on Patrick's bandwagon, the sooner we
on RAT can return to productive work.

I for one am putting Pinkerton's posts and all replies to Pinkerton in
my killfiles right now. If Pinkerton is in a thread, or his name is
mentioned, I am gone from.

I once knew a successful lawyer who gambled to the point where he had
lost all his savings and was left with nothing but the house he and his
family lived in. At this point his wife and children left him. In a
