NEW similar trannies are $5 apiece from Antique Electronic Supply. And
how much are 40 year old barbequed caps worth?

Ouch, that's $35 worth at best.

So, now we're quibbling over spending an extra $65 for a working amp,
with NOS tubes that might easily be worth that $35 alone, depending on
how they test?

One would think that the buyer spent $10,000 on a power amp or
something.

BTW, Cal should be rejoicing that this item didn't get parted out.

$95 then.

Are we really now complaining about spending an extra $95 for a
working two channel amplifier, regardless of how much it theoretically
might be worth?

Besides, if the tubes test strongly, then they are worth at least $35
by themselves.

The fact that people are judging someone harshly for spending a
hundred bucks for a working amp seems rather ludicrous, at least to
me.

Not me!

After you've spent hours drilling holes in steel, you think what your time
is worth. Paint the chassis black, wrap it in some wood, re-cap and strap
it triode-mode... might be a cool amp.

So it goes!

Since the invention of the electric and air hand drills and the drill
press, it's gotten to be fast.

No. That would be Phil Allison. Followed by several other people

in approx. 6-7 secs. I'm unsubscribing. Don't waste your typing. I just
subsribed a few days ago. Too many jerks.

I don't use any eq except under SoundForge, in this case the Eq curves are
stored with the waveform.

IMHO the concept of Eq template is simply stupid.

How do you know if there's a war in Europe?

Paris is occupied. :-)

My grand-father who was in Verdun used to say :
"An assault with an English company is the most dangerous...
because they're so terrified that they shoot you in the back".

:-(

What's the French word for 'fair play'?

It's 'le fairplay', because there *is* no French word for fair play...

The french words are "loyal" and "loyauté" not my fault if
the mass media and tabloids from the Perfid Albion don't
know that.
