Default Whats Wrong With Vlado Meller

I never involve myself in the loud war debates, because I feel that some ultra
compressed CDs when tastefully "loudened up" can still sound quite good. But
every time I hear something that is distorted and awful sounding, the common
denominator always seems to be Vlado Meller. Two prime examples are
Californication and my beloved Audio Slave CD. I really wish I can hear the
Audio Slave CD without all its harshness and distortion. Do Rick Rubin and
Vlado have some kind of pact? I just don't understand why people use him.
I've mastered CDs that are punchier and smoother [and not distorted] then
Vlado's and I am no mastering engineer. Whats the deal?
