Need help with distortion
I have a JVC head unit (KD-SX950), USAcoustics amp (4x60), Powered
Bazooka sub, (4) Pioneer speakers and a JVC 12 disc changer. The head unit has 4v preout and sub pre out. The unit has been installed in my pick-up for 3 years. I have never had a problem until recently. The very low frequencies coming from FM only, are extremely distorted. I first thought a speaker had blown, but my cd's sound as good as ever. I recently installed a Skyfi receiver, using the FM modulator and it also, although not nearly as bad, will show some distortion. Any idea as to what is causing this? Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Dan |

Need help with distortion
Sounds like a tuner problem, Maybe your antenna is the culprit. Is it
plugged in securely to the head? Dont quote me on this... but I think some GM antennas need to be chassis grounded (???) Perhaps some one here can correct me...? Hope this helps, Garrett Dan wrote: I have a JVC head unit (KD-SX950), USAcoustics amp (4x60), Powered Bazooka sub, (4) Pioneer speakers and a JVC 12 disc changer. Need help with distortion
Check the 4 Pineer speakers. take the sub out and see if you still get the
distorted. Cd offers better signals particularly when it is recorded above 48k. Did or are the mids crossed, maybe just needs to be adjusted. If you can control the frequency set it to about 500 hz and see if the distortion goes away. Then you can just play with the range till you find a safe level. Full range may cause them to distort some. The FM modulator maybe a factor depending on which one. ChystalLines - shouldn't be a problem |
