On Fri, 7 Nov 2008 06:08:41 -0800, Bill Noble wrote (in article ): I have a TASCAM CDRW-5000 that I use to make CDs from other media (right now, from RTR tapes) - and I can't find any CD media that it will work with any more - it works fine with older media but I just used up my last old CD - now what? any clues? This from TASCAM forums: cdrw-5000 from tascam only supports 650 mb (74 minute) cdr's and cdw's.....you can still find those on the net, ebay, etc...... that is one reason most people don't want the unit........they upgrade to newer tascam cd writers. namaste IOW, modern CD writers support the 700MB CD-R/RWs and your CDRW-5000 only supports the original 650MB discs. That's likely your answer. Yes, I read that, along with another post that said that TASCAM would replace the unit for $380, and another that said leaving it on for 1/2 hour would let it work with newer media - but as we all know, there is a difference between finding something posted on the internet and verifying what is in fact true - However, in defense of the forum, the CDs that I was able to get to work with it yesterday were all 650 MB/74 minutes. So now the problem is to find about ten more of these disks quickly so I can finish tranferring these old tapes to CD |
