You see, this is America, where a Republican can be disappointed with Republican leadership, and Democrats can be disappointed with Democratic leadership. You're just getting dumber and dumber every day, aren't you, sockpuppet. Boon -------------------------------------------------------------------- Like 99.99% of American boony-boy watch with concupiscence my nice country (don't be ashamed every nations do that). In the above excerpt he try to give me a lesson of democracy... What vain efforts ! He seems to forget that France is the country of human being, this idiot never read Voltaire, Diderot, Jean-Jacques Rousseau... He seems to forget that while the above philosophers was writing your futur, your ancestors was starting to exterminate indian nation ! I was joking. Do you know the only thing he is jealously envying in my beautiful country ? Hey Lionel, are we going to have to send Lance Armstrong back to kick your froggy little butt? Boo-hoo-hoo. Hello GeoSync I'm glad to find someone to discuss with me my first hobby... Are you interested in biking ? Me too ! So you can imagine that I like a lot Lance Armstrong. He really recall me Bernard Hinault same agressivity, same pugnaciousness. The way he fighted and won against the cancer is a lesson of courage and optimism for every human being (so, irrelevant for Bonnie Phillips. LOL! and Georg "Bin Laden" Middius LOL - LOt's !). I practise a lot and I have met a lot of your nice american fellows during the '99 Paris-Brest-Paris cyclotourist raid : http://www.audax-club-parisien.com/ http://www.rusa.org/pbp.html This is really a life experience, I still have link with some of them in Texas and North Carolina. Two Frenchies arrived first in +44 hours this year. I was in Spain this summer but I know that this year they arrived in a group of six (5 Frenchies and a guy from Belgium) they done the 1216 km in +42 hours !!! It's faster and faster, too much for me. I love sport but I haven't any real passion for the patriotic exaltation this child of mass-media propaganda. For example here in Europe football (soccer) is really contaminated by such crazy patriotic supporters and too many people died (also children and women) in stadiums because of some insane hooligans. This make me feel so sad. But these are awful news we can forget, when we quietly bike on small mountain roads or in the in country side. I say *we* because I am sure that we share the same opinion. Sport is also to much contaminated by money. Athleticism is the typical example of both contamination : patriotism and business. In '70 and early '80 cheaters was from East-Europe and now they are from West-Atlantic. But we must be optimistic. We have had recently Mondial championship here in Paris. I have heard that this things go better and better. It seems that since athletes stop shooting themselves whith Columbia motor-fuel they live longer but win less (100m sprinters for example). Anyway, you and me aren't really concern in these exacerbate behaviours. He really recall me Bernard Hinault same agressivity, same pugnaciousness. Oh yeah, who can forget those images of blood dripping down Hinault's face after he had crashed but got back on his bike and was determined to keep going. That was the year Greg LeMond was Hinault's teammate and helped win the Tour, and Bernard promised to help LeMond win the Tour in the next year. I'm glad to see Hinault on the podium now to congratulate all the winners on each stage of the Tour. The way he fighted and won against the cancer is a lesson of courage and optimism for every human being (so, irrelevant for Bonnie Phillips. LOL! and Georg "Bin Laden" Middius LOL - LOt's !). George is a fat, gay cripple and he curses fate for his lot in life. Boonie, on the other hand, is alright in my boo, if a little caustic. I think this article http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/ar...TICLE_ID=34372 articulates what Boon and I think is the root cause that precipitated all those tragic, unnecessary heat-related deaths in France. I had a Mercier 10-speed, which was a great bike and I really liked it a lot. After moving out here to southern California, I had a DeRosa for like $1,500 bucks and I used to ride it a lot, but not much anymore, because everybody drives cars out here and most of them drive like maniacs, so it's gotten way too dangerous to be riding a bike around town. The poor DeRosa is relegated to bike-training stand and I occasionally exercise on it but that gets boring after a while. I love sport but I haven't any real passion for the patriotic exaltation this child of mass-media propaganda. The only other sport I'm interested is Formula 1 racing. Last year was boring because Michael won the driver's championship so early in the season, but this year is quite interesting as Mika, Juan and Ralph all have a shot at beating Michael for the championship. Sport is also to much contaminated by money. Athleticism is the typical example of both contamination : patriotism and business. The manufacturing plant *was* (so sad) in my hometown like JM Lab loudspeakers (Focal)... Sorry to be so vain ;-) Here in my area we had a lot of small "artisanal"(is it correct ?) manufacturers of frame for bike, the one I today ride (Vitus steel) has been offer by my father long time ago. Lionel PS : don't look for for my name in the Paris-Brest-Paris racers list 'cause I've never done this raid. I see that as is his habit, Middius starts out by misstating several major theses of the article. For example, Middius claims that: (1) "...the "ideas" of communism, fascism, etc. were the root causes of the waves of misery endured by generations of Europeans; In fact the article says: "Europe has given the world Marxism, communism, fascism, Nazism, racism and socialism, all rotten ideas that have caused immeasurable human suffering." (2) "Americans invented the notion of 'hard work to earn money';" In fact the article says: "The New York Times recently featured an article describing the death of the Protestant work ethic in secular, socialist Europe and the thriving of that ethic in America - and that this explains the far greater productivity and affluence of America. The Judeo-Christian tradition values work; secularism doesn't. And as we all know from watching our children, people with a lot of time on their hands have character problems." Given that the last sentence describes Middius to a *T*, we can understand why he can't possibly comprehend it and paraphrase it accurately - that would be too much like self-awareness! So here in the words of Middius we have a prime example of "Ideologically Induced Reading Comprehension Problems". Some things never seem to change and some people on RAO never seem to learn. |

AP Sorry for untranslated text but anyway you know the story... Sorry for untranslated text but anyway you know the story... Also sorry for this unfair juxtaposition, I cannot resist. "He died as a martyr, I wish this will motivate some vocations" could have said Dennis Prager. I know it's not really funny but I remember now the last paragraph when he said : "As I wrote in a previous column, the future of the world is either European secular socialism, Islamic totalitarianism or the unique American combination of Judeo-Christian religiosity and political and economic liberty. Few Americans are attracted to the second possibility, but vast numbers look to Europe as a model" It's seems that Paul Hill is an hybrid of the second and the third. LOL ! |

Dormer's wide awake:
I totally agree. I was going to address that article point-by-point, but it's so full of crap it's not worth the effort. And neither are you. Ad hominem attack noted! My, but that's very observant of you! (Well, at least you're one of the few who can spell ad hominem correctly.) GeoSynch |
