Telefunken M-301 and the German Communications Museum
I was in Frankfurt recently and went to the German Communications Museum.
There they had a bunch of old radios and radio equipment on display with the backs off and such. I was walking down the line of old radio gear drooling at all of the old Telefunken tubes jammed in everywhere and the people working there kept looking at me like I was crazy. I don't know if these were desireable tubes or not, but seeing so many REAL Telefunken tubes from back in the glory days was pretty exciting for me. They had some cool old mics including a giant bootle mic used by Hitler during his speaches. It looked amazing. It was giant! Well, compared to most mics today. I couldn't help thinking of ways to put that thing in my jacket and bolting out the door! The Hitler connection was an interesting novelty, but I wanted that giant old Telefunken M-301! So, I was wondering if anyone was familiar with that mic and if it really had any real world uses. Does anyone have one that they are using? Thanks, JJ |
