olympus digital voice recorders
I saw that some of the new voice recorders have alot of space. I am
primarily interested in using such a device for journaling, that is recording my thoughts and so on each day. The key thing is that I often record very short blurbs, but I would like them to each be part of one file until I start another file. Is that possible with some of these or with which ones ? I think I have an older recorder, which I think doesn't even have a USB and what I don't like about it is that it starts a new file each time. I'd like to be able to record say 10 or 20 short 5-10 second blurbs all separately and have them all be part of the same file until I decide to start a new file. That's what I like about cassettes is that it's all part of one tape, I can organize tapes and label them instead of a zillion little files. Also, if I could record directly to mp3 that might be good as I think that format uses less space, but that's not critical. |

On most digital recorders, switching from record to stop closes the first
file. Returning to record opens a new file. Some machines might allow you to append new stuff to an existing file, but I'm not sure. Basically, you need to leave the recorder in pause when not recording. This will, of course, run down the battery prematurely, so you'll need to leave it plugged into an AC adapter. |
