Can I wear those while doing Rap groups?
Koss Pro-4's made good ear defenders too. I do actually have a pair of
industrial ear defenders and they come nowhere close.

I think I had 4AA's. Oil filled cushions, or am I mistaken?

Yes (actually 'no'), you're not mistaken. I still remember the grease
running down my neck....

FWIW, they've reissued them, without the 'greasy kid stuff'. I got a
set of the much shorter-lived Pro4AAA's, back when. The cushions are
filled only with air. Koss no longer has the replacements, which just
went 'flat' when punctured instead of bleeding. Supposedly, I got the
last set a couple of years ago, when I revived mine.

The isolation is nearly as good, the sound somewhat better. They're
still heavy....

I never managed to puncture my Pro-4 cushions but somehow even the silicone ?
oil filled ones go flat (and hard) eventually.

For sheer isolation they are unbeatable (at least the original 4As and AAs
were) and don't sound bad either. But as has been said, you won't want to
wear them for too many hours unless you have a strong neck and anaesthetised
ear lobes. It can worth it for the sound though. Almost nothing at the time
seemed to come remotely close.

My Beyers in comparison I hardly notice and sometimes keep them on when I've
finished listening on the PC, just in case something else interesting crops
up. But then they have next to nil isolation (open back).

Air never goes 'hard'; but the vinyl containing it does. When that
happens, it also gets brittle and more prone to leaking. That's
probably also the cause of the oil-filled ones stiffening up.

Actually nothing, IME. OTOH, I never tried any of the electrostatics
that were all the rage at the time....
