how to rip to FLAC?
Hi all,
I downloaded the FLAC software from sourceforge, but it's not clear how I rip to FLAC. Or do I need to rip to WAV first, then convert to FLAC? By the way, how many of those portable players are capable of playing FLAC? Thanks. |

My understanding was that FLAC is an "after-market" compression scheme like ZIP, etc. It would certainly be handy to have a "FLAC codec" that would do the compression/decompression on the fly." There are certainly SOME players that decode FLAC. Is there some central source of independent, 3rd party news/reviews of the portable player market? |

If you are running Windows use dbPowerAmp; it rips right to FLAC with tag info. iRiver HD-based players will play FLAC, but I use ogg on my iRiver HP120. Dan |
