Default Black Plate

Why do black plate tubes sell for 4 to 5X as much as their plain plate
brethren? Can you explain the difference both electronically and sonically?
Thanks.

By black plate you mean carbon plate... these tubes were designed for heavy
use in radio transmitters, and can take tons of abuse over regular tubes, since
the plate can be ran red hot and no one cares... also they could take more
voltage. FM business and some mobile radios in the 70s used them.

Sonically? who knows!
