Default New Beatles CDs, etc.

Has anyone else heard the new Beatles remasterings? On a trip to SF
last weekend for business, I picked up Let it Be, Abbey Road, Sgt.
Pepper's, Revolver, and Rubber Soul. Quite better sound than the
earlier CD releases, I think. Really enjoyable. I'd be interested in
other opinions. I also had a good LP trip, picking up some good finds
at Amoeba and Rasputin. Both stores are carrying a lot of vinyl, and
the shopping in those sections seems quite brisk, compared to even a few
months ago when I last went record shopping.

I'm curious, too. I also have my eyes on the Singles and EP boxes still
in print. They might be a more economic way to get the mono stuff in
which I'm interested.

Anyone have the Rock Band?

Are you guys aware that the Beatles dissolved as a band 40 years ago?
Also, two of the band members are no longer with us, and Ringo appears to be
insane. Isn't it time to let them rest in peace?

BTW, here's what I heard. Mr. Starkey and his band were booked to play one
song on a daytime talk show. He asked for 8 minutes, the producer said 6 was
all they could spare, and Starkey agreed. So they showed up at the studio on
the scheduled day and demanded 8 minutes. The producer said no, you can only
have 6 minutes, and anyway you already agreed to it. Starkey had a cow and
stormed out, leaving the show with 6 minutes to fill.

Does that sound rational to you?

Found it... The show was the one with Regis and Kelly, and the incident of
insanity occurred in January '08.

Also, another detail I just remembered: Starkey performed a song about his
beloved Liverpool on the Late Late Show, but it was apparent he thought he
was performing for a hometown (Liverpudlian) crowd. To me, he looked stoned,
but even stoners are usually aware of which continent they're on.

Here he is on the Early Show via satellite from Liverpool:

Different Late Late Show performance, "A Little Help From My Friends":

The Regis thing was more a rock star ego trip. Ringo was reportedly deep
in alcoholism. Combined with the rock star/millionaire thing, he might
be a handful.

Hi Jenn,

Head over to r.m.beatles for discussion of the remasters with a greater chance for
meaningful replies. Here's what I've said about my listening so far:

http://groups.google.com/group/rec.m...9?dmode=source

I'm glad you like them better than the 1987 CDs. It seems that most of the listeners
at RMB that have posted their impressions agree with you.
