Is there anyone here willing to look at my toob list And
give me an idea of what they could be worth and what they
are for application wise??

TIA!

Applications engineering is bit complex for Email

Happy Ears!

There are only about a dozen tubes that are of great interest to Audio.
Then another dozen of passing interest. But there are hundreds that are
of interest to the vintage radio crew. The rest go to the television
crowd.

As to 'what they are worth', that is a moving target based as much on
legend, mythology and dogma as it is on fact and performance. A mostly
microphonic smooth-plate Telefunken 12AX7 (NIB @ $40 and up) will be
'worth' more than a mil.spec. Sylvania 5751 (12AX7WA) (NIB @ $5), but
the latter will outperform the former hands-down.

Al steered you to AES, that is a starter for 'worth' generically. Go to
eBay and purchase one of the RCA designer handbooks for applications,
they are handy to have in any case. Many libraries have copies, so you
can check one out to see if you want to invest in a copy of your own.

Keep also in mind that there are three distinct classes of
users-of-tubes: Audio, Vintage Radio, and Vintage Television. I dabble
in the first two, and have no use for the third. So tubes that may be
of great value to the TV crowd do not interest me at all. And in the
case of some tubes (such as the 2A3 and the 45 for two examples), the
radio crowd is pretty resentful of the audio crowd for sucking up tubes
that they *must* have in order to make their piddly little SET amps for
which there are otherwise many options.

Then, there are brand-sensitivities: GE vs. Sylvania vs. RCA vs.
Genelex vs. Telefunken vs. Siemens vs. Mullard and so forth. And the
makers' habit of rebranding tubes from other sources than their own.
And the mythology built up around JAN (J oint A rmy N avy)
branded-tubes. And Ivy-League tuitions being tied up in a very few
vintage Western Electric 300Bs.

Did I mention "Moving Target"?

Check ebay completed auctions for a good idea of what they're really
worth. The standards like Telefunken, ampex, etc are pretty steady.
Some others used in audio and guitar vary quite a bit in worth, so it's
better to try to establish a ballpark amount of what they may bring.

For applications, try a TUBE MANUAL. You DO have one, DON"T YOU?????

No, with no intentions of buying any.

If not you need to get one,

I have zero need for a tube manual, I have a box of
about 300 tubes that I intend to get rid of and that will
end my interest until the day that I possibly buy some tube
amps.

and not ask any more until you do.

I shall suggest at this point you add me to your ignore
list and leave me there for all eternity.

The two most useful are the RCA Receiving Tube Manual and the GE
Essential Characteristics book.

As far as value-put them on eBay and see. Or get a couple of catalogs.

There are online tube databases, with the most popular types:

http://tdsl.duncanamps.com/tubesearch.php

http://www.tubedata.org/

Just enter the number and the information is there.

As to their possible value, an E-bay search on the typenumbers will
reveal most of what you need to know.
E-bay dictates the prices these days, for most audiophiles and guitar
players anyway.

Old coots like me know where to find tubes for a lot less ;-)

You have the right to remain stupid. Any stupid statements can and
will be used against you in a court of law. You have a right to improve
yourself if you so choose. If you cannot afford to purchase a tube
manual, you can download one for free.

And as usual, it's always the ass who fails to
comprehend the difference between knowledge/information and
intelligence calling others "stupid." You do not seem to
even know the correct application of the word. One thing is
certain, I hope you never ask any questions in groups or
forums where I offer help and answers about the subject
because I'll just tell you to go buy a book and don't come
back. Fortunately there are others here who do have an
interest in teaching and sharing knowledge. Now by all
means, please add me to your ignore list.

Mpfffff... Mr. Ludwig would put about any set of knickers in a twist,
starch may be the sovereign remedy. But you are correct, rhinocerous
hide is an asset if navigating the wilds of Usenet.
