Tube poem
I think I'll never see a poem as lovely as a tube.
A tube whose hungry cathode is pressed against the Earth's sweet flowing current. A tube that amplifies God all day and lifts its plate to pray all day. A tube that may in Summer's wear an ultralinear connection on her screens. On whose glass bulb getter has lain who intimately lives with vacuum. Poem are made by plagiarists like me, but only God can make a tube.... (this is payback for having been forced to memorize crap like this in grammar school!) |

I can still recite "I am Odysseus, great Laertes' son, for cunning plans of every kind known among men; and even to heaven has spread my fame...." It's truly amazing what kind of stuff sticks to one's brain. Hi RATs!
After six years of hypoperfusion of blood in my brain, I can report that just because stuff sticks in my head doesn't prove I have any brains Sticks and stones may break my bones, but, names can all desert me. Or something like that. Happy Ears! Al Alan J. Marcy Phoenix, AZ PWC/mystic/Earhead |

Cheers, Fred One of my faves that I still remember: Gaily bedight A gallant knight In sunshine and in shadow Had journeyed long Singing a song In search of Eldorado. But he grew old This knight so bold And o'er his heart a shadow Fell as he found No spot of ground That looked like Eldorado. And as his strength Failed him at length He met a pilgrim shadow "Shadow," said he "Where can it be This land of Eldorado?" "Over the Mountains Of the Moon Down the Valley of the Shadow Ride, boldly ride" The shade replied "If you seek for Eldorado!" -- Greg --The software said it requires Win2000 or better, so I installed Linux. |

I sit here
Think and dream In front of me Two tubes gleam Soft sounds They do fill My little room What a thrill The sounds to take Me to places Far from here Wide open spaces Glowing tubes Filaments bright In the dark Lighting my night I now doze Tired and weary Their warm sounds My heart cheery I see the pentodes Glowing bright My dreamship goes Second to the right And on into the morning -- Gregg *It's probably useful, even if it can't be SPICE'd* http://geek.scorpiorising.ca |

You must have been in the same 7th grade English class, I had to memorize that exact same version of the Odyssey! ...my native land is Ithica, a sun bright island low of shore, which lies far out to sea, and towards the west. Rugged it is, this land of mine, yet breeds a sturdy youth, and I can find no land more sweet to me than this, my native Ithaca.... I have been trying to find this translation, and ran across your post....do you remember what edition this is? Thanks! Desuma
