Default mic on headset is too low

everybody i talk to with my mic via VoIP says that they can barely hear
me. is there an app that i could increase the gain on my mic?

If the mic and line-in jacks are separate, make sure you're using the right
one (usually red or pink).

There is likely to be a +20 dB microphone boost available in the advanced
properties of the microphone, under recording volume control. In Windows,
go to Run... and type: sndvol32 /r
