Speaker Problem Advice Sought Please
Hi, I wonder if anyone can suggest a fix for this problem please.
I have a pair of dearly beloved old Kef Q90 floorstanders, and recently my 2 year old nephew prodded his finger into the centre of one of the woofers. This resulted in the convex semi-hemispherical section in the middle becoming concave. (Stupid me, for leaving the grilles off while he was around). Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might go about popping it back out again? I've tried suction, but it appears to be made from a slightly porous material and therefore I can't create a vacuum. I've also tried a couple of stick things, such as parcelling tape and blu-tac, but neither of these gains sufficient purchase to pull it out. Any practical suggestions will be gratefully recieved. Since it's slightly porous you can use a sharp needle to gently pull it out. The dust cap of a woofer is not as critical as a tweeter dome anyway, so consider yourself fortunate if no other damage has been done. TonyP. |

Hey, what do you know? The vacuum cleaner trick worked! It was quite
scary though, because the cleaner is quite powerful. I wasn't sure whether it might rip the centre section clear out. But no damage done, and nobody ever got anywhere in life without taking some risks. Thanks for all the suggestions. Le Garcon Du Goat Rich Andrews wrote in message . 3.44... Keep trying the tape. Pull off sharply. You might check the google groups archive. I seem to remember someone using a vacuum cleaner to pop the dust cap back out. YMMV. r |
