One of the local library systems had a big cleanout. I got two very
nice Carousel slide projectors and an old Ampex open reel tape
transport, not one of the really desireable pro ones but a 600 series,
plus a huge box of old prerecorded tapes. The best part was that the
tape machine had a homemade podium affair with a speaker in it-a
classic Alnico magnet 604. Alas, only one. I sawed the podium up for
firewood-it's a good birch wood-and the 604 ought to bring something
on eBay.

All this stuff would have went into the dumpster had I not had a
female friend who is fairly high up in the management of this system.
