rec.audio.tech is the main USENET audio group. I don't see any home theater
USENET group.If you search Google groups archieves of USENET you will find many answers.
There are forums on the Web like http://www.hometheaterforum.com/

I'm not familiar with reason. Can you give a link ?

Rec.audio.pro deals a lot with studio type issues and
alt.audio.pro.live-sound with PA/SR. Tech is indeed mainly technical
issues.
