Default Soft or Hard ?

Greetings,

Floor of my house is a 4" reinforced concrete slab. Is covered with 10mm
thick laminated wood floor boards (floating not glued). 6mm rubberised
matting sits between the concrete and wooden floor.

Speaker stands (via 3 spikes) are sitting direct on floor (no rug or
carpet).

So, what's the norm here, do I use soft (rubber) or hard (metal) feet under
the speaker stand spikes ??

While we are at it, I also use currently 4 small rubber pads between the
speaker and the stand to couple them. Is this the way to go or would the
speakers be better off directly coupled ?

Cheers
Mal
