Default slightly OT, but not if you have an intel processor

A serious design flaw has been discovered in "all modern" Intel cpu's.
It potentially allows access to what should be protected kernel storage.
The fix is being rolled out by all the vendors and will hit "soon".
(This includes Apple products.) Precise details are still confidential,
but here's the basic info. The real news is that fixing the problem will
slow down Intel processors by as much as 20% or more, depending on
workload. Latency issues to come?

AMD reports that its cpu's don't have this bug.
