Default Yamaha CD-S2000 SACD Player

I wonder if anyone might have auditioned this relatively new Yamaha CD-S2000
SACD Player? It appears to have been more widely distributed outside of the
USA, and I wonder why?

Haven't heard it, BUT, it's not unusual for manufacturers to produce certain
models only for certain markets. IOW, build a model for the rest of the world
and not market it in the USA/Canada. This is done with practically everything
from cars and motorcycles to toaster ovens and Hi-Fi gear. Why a manufacturer
decides to sell one model in a certain market and not the other is a mystery.
Often the decisions seem arbitrary and not based on any real info. A case in
point was Volkswagen's R32 Golf. This was a high-performance Golf coupe that
had a tuned V6, a "boy-racer" interior and a special handling package.
Initially they didn't sell it here in the USA. At a press dinner in Germany,
some American auto journalist caught the ear of the then president of VW and
asked them why they didn't sell the R32 in the States. The VW president said
that they were under the impression that US buyers didn't want a car like
that. When the journalist told him that they would sell all they could ship
to the USA, the VW Prez's eyebrows went up and he flipped open his cellphone
and made a call. When he finished, he turned to the journalist and said. The
R32 will be on your shores in 6 months. When it finally happened, they had
pre-sold every unit slated for the US market for the next two years. So you
see, these decisions are often arbitrary and have no real market research or
any other apparent "logic" behind them.
