Default RCA and XLR on the same cable?

I own an Anthem AVM-20 that has balanced outputs. My Hsu subwoofer has
only RCA inputs. Does an XLR-RCA cable offer any theoretical or
practical advantage, or should I save the money and just stick with
RCA-RCA ??

No electrical advantage at all and unless large distances are involved,
none for a balanced wiring setup in home audio. Xlr connecters are
sometimes of the lock type which allows some practical value in not being
pulled out by accident.

No advantage at all. The whole cable run will be unbalanced, and
depending on the design of the Anthem's output, you may well end up with
a worse result by grounding one of the outputs.
