Default slowing audio from security VCR

I have security tapes from my system, they were recorded at 24 hour mode, so
recording is at 1/8th normal.

I need to extract audio

Audio does not play back when at 24 hour mode but does play back at 3 hour
mode.

But it is chipmunk style TOO FAST

OK I can record the audio BUT cant figure out how to slow it down to normal
speed.

Basically I have to reduce playback by a factor of 8 I think

Audio is a bit of a mystery to me, I am sure this is possible BUT I don't
know how.

I have a Creative Audigy card & software

Any one out there got any idea??

This can be done with software such as Adobe Audition:

http://www.adobe.com/products/audition/overview.html

Basically, you make a recording with your soundcard, and then drop the
sample rate by a factor of 8 with Adobe Audition.

Thanks for getting back,

I don't understand but have seen sample rate somewhere.

I do not have Adobe Audition & the price is rather out of my league.

Goldwave will do it too. Not free, but shareware and very much cheaper.
When I last looked you could download a fully functional evaluation copy.

I found I could alter the sample rate on the creative Audigy card software,
just a load of clicks & pops when I slow it down even at 50%, I need to slow
it by a factor of 8

A local guy told me there is Doppler shift so it is not possible, that's
well past me, I understand the train whistle analogy, but any more than that
& I am lost.

CoolEdit Pro (Adobe whatsit'sname) and Goldwave allow you to mess around
with pitch and speed independantly. It will cost you nothing to get a
copy of Goldwave and see if it does what you want.
