Default Extracting audio metadata

Is anyone aware of an audio identification tool, similar to the video
identifier GSpot, that recognises file formation, Audio Bit Rate,
compression, etc. and write it to a text file. I've found one or two
tools that perform this function, but they usually won't allow you to
output the data or they attempt to play the entire file.

Cheers,
Gareth
