Default boombox or inexpensive stereo system for recording?

Hello,
Am looking for a boombox model or inexpensive
mini stereo system that is available in dept
stores that can record music or external noise
to tapes.

I guess it would need a microphone.

Has anyone had any experiences? I can only
find boxes that record from radio, not from
ambient noise nor music coming TV.

Thanks for any advice!
