Default iMovie import MKV, MKV to iMovie, import MKV movies to iMovie on MacOS X with MKV to iMovie Converter

iMovie is a video editing software application which allows Mac users
to edit their own home movies. iMovie imports video footage to the Mac
using either the FireWire interface on most MiniDV format digital
video cameras, the USB port, or by importing the files from a hard
drive. From there, the user can edit the video clips, add titles, and
add music. Effects include basic color correction and video
enhancement tools, and transitions such as fade-in, fade-out, and
slides.

Before you can begin working in iMovie, you need to bring in some
video from a video recording device and store the video on your
computer (or an external hard disk). iMovie will also allow you to
import the following file formats:
DV (standard definition) and HDV (high definition), MPEG-2 and AVCHD
from Camcorders, MPEG-4, DV, and .MOV files stored in Mac. MKV to
iMovie Converter can import MKV to iMovie supported format such as mp4
for edit.
