Several of these were built, particularly the washing-machine-size
Fairchild transcription tables. They were very heavy and gave marginal
performance even when new.

Since belt drive tables are perfectly satisfactory for audiophiles and
direct drive ones perfectly satisfactory for DJs, why reinvent the
wheel?
