Yeah, the point is not to have it working, but to figure out why it failed.
Although it can be argued that failing is just what cheap standby UPSes do.

I've got one in circuit that has never worked as intended. Haven't had
the energy to remove it. For, for something like 10 years or more !

Mind you, it has only ever 'needed' to do its thing half a dozen times
at most ....
